We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Power BI Developer to join our dynamic team. This role is critical in transforming complex data into actionable business insights through the design, development, and optimization of Power BI reports and dashboards. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in data visualization, SQL, and ETL processes to support data-driven decision-making across the organization. Working closely with business analysts, data engineers, and end-users, the Power BI Developer will ensure data accuracy, enhance reporting capabilities, and provide training to empower business users. Responsibilities
- Develop visually compelling and interactive Power BI reports and dashboards that effectively communicate complex datasets to diverse stakeholders. Continuously improve dashboard performance, especially when handling large datasets, ensuring fast and reliable access to insights.
- Extract data from SQL Server databases and enterprise data warehouses, transform it to meet reporting requirements, and load it into Power BI models. Collaborate with data engineering teams to optimize data pipelines and ensure data integrity.
- Analyze large volumes of data to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that can drive business decisions. Work closely with business analysts and end-users to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions that deliver measurable value.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including business analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to gather and refine reporting requirements. Translate business needs into scalable and maintainable Power BI solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of reports, data sources, data models, and ETL processes to ensure transparency and ease of maintenance. Keep documentation up to date with evolving business requirements and technical changes.
- Provide training sessions and ongoing support to business users to enhance their proficiency with Power BI tools. Act as a subject matter expert to troubleshoot issues and promote best practices in data visualization and report usage.
- Stay current with the latest Power BI features, updates, and industry best practices. Proactively recommend and implement improvements to enhance the company’s business intelligence capabilities.
Requirements
Must-Have Skills
- Power BI: Expert-level proficiency in designing, developing, and optimizing Power BI reports and dashboards. Deep understanding of Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX (Data Analysis Expressions), Power Query, and data modeling techniques to create efficient and scalable BI solutions.
- SQL: Strong command of SQL for querying, manipulating, and optimizing data from relational databases, particularly SQL Server. Ability to write complex queries, stored procedures, and optimize database performance to support reporting needs.
- Data Visualization: Proven ability to create clear, insightful, and interactive visualizations that effectively communicate data stories. Knowledge of visualization best practices to enhance user experience and decision-making.
- Data Analysis: Skilled in analyzing large datasets to extract meaningful insights, identify trends, and support strategic business decisions. Experience with statistical analysis and data validation techniques to ensure data accuracy.
- ETL (Extract, Transform, Load): Experience in designing and implementing ETL processes to prepare data for reporting. Familiarity with data integration techniques and tools to efficiently handle data from multiple sources.
- Data Warehousing: Understanding of data warehousing concepts, architecture, and best practices. Experience working with enterprise data warehouses to support BI reporting and analytics.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders. Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable information for non-technical audiences.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot data issues, optimize report performance, and develop innovative BI solutions that meet evolving business needs.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Azure Data Factory: Experience with Azure Data Factory or similar cloud-based ETL tools to orchestrate and automate data workflows. Familiarity with Azure cloud services enhances the ability to integrate Power BI with cloud data sources and pipelines.
